How to cope with a stream of disturbing news

In modern times we are surrounded by news. Unfortunately, most of them are of a negative nature. These disturbing news causes mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression.

Psychologists believe that anxiety within reasonable limits is a normal state for a person. Our psyche tends to focus precisely on the negative – this is a kind of protective mechanism that does not give the danger of catching us by surprise. But it also happens when there is too much negativity. This is already dangerous and needs to be fixed.

Reading article after article, watching news after news, we plunge into the abyss of negativity. Less clarity and more anxiety. We may even think that everything is under control, but it is not. Our thoughts harm us because they keep us in suspense. It drains energy from us, and therefore health. Stop yourself before it’s too late because this condition can be successfully dealt with.

Don’t let the bad take over your mind and suck the life out of you. Here are some tips that will help alleviate your condition, and maybe change something for the better.

  • Don’t forget about your life. You must have had some plans for today. Remember them and finally get down to business. You can influence your well-being and fight the routine. Life goes on!
  • Show yourself some compassion. No, you don’t have to feel sorry for yourself. Just accept that you live in a difficult time and unrest is the norm. But destroying yourself because of this is completely optional, so take a break. It can be watching a good movie, meeting with friends, cooking your favorite dish.
  • Hang out with people you like. You are certainly not alone in your experiences and will find something to tell each other. Don’t be afraid to show emotions and ask for support – there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Perhaps you will get answers to some of your questions, or maybe you will just feel relieved.
  • Think about what you can influence. Agree that it is foolish to torment yourself because of things that you cannot change. Define a zone of control according to your strengths and put things in order in it. Not necessarily in this zone will be only you. It is quite possible to help someone, for example, spend time teaching another person or help him solve some problems.
  • Make a to-do list to help you deal with stress. It is better that it be a job that requires concentration, for example, some kind of repair or sewing. You will not even notice how anxiety leaves you.
  • Break the habit of starting your day by reading the news. It’s one of those things that ruins the whole day . Instead of checking your morning messages, just do some exercise. And it is also important to remember that in a state of stress you can not make decisions. Be sure to calm down before doing anything responsible.
